In the primary school, students in the British International Section receive a minimum of 3 hours of instruction in English. This instruction is in English, not about the English language.
In middle school to 10th grade: In the international section, students benefit from 4 hours of literature instruction and 2 hours of history-geography-civics in English. Programs are developed in consultation with French and partner country educational authorities, and instruction is provided by a native English speaker. Indian students are considered native English speakers by the French Ministry of Education. Students in the 9th grade of international sections of middle school can take the “collège series, international option” of the national diploma of the brevet.
The diploma includes two specific tests: history-geography in English and literature in English. The objective of this instruction is to aim for French/English bilingualism. The International French Baccalaureate (BFI) is an advanced program for students in the 11th and 12th grades, which builds upon their education from grades 1 to 10. It offers a curriculum similar to the general baccalaureate, including core subjects, specialized teaching, and optional courses such as a third language.
Students also receive additional instruction in cultural and linguistic subjects, as well as a non-linguistic discipline like history-geography or science. This program prepares students for higher education and provides them with a comprehensive academic experience
