The Lycée Français International de Delhi, established in 1956, is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and follows the baccalaureate program. As a proud member school under the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), comprising over 580 schools in more than 130 countries, our institution holds a distinguished position.
Given our esteemed stature, admission priority was earlier reserved to students with French nationality and those associated with the AEFE network or under the contract with the Ministry of National Education. However, in 2018, the Lycée Français International de Delhi extended its welcome to Indian nationals, and currently, the school comprises a diverse student body, with approximately 270 students from 35 nationalities.
We extend a warm invitation to Indian students to apply to the school before the commencement of the academic year, spanning from September to June. Join us at the Lycée Français International de Delhi, a multicultural and enriching educational environment, providing your child with an international learning experience.
The registration for the new academic year begins in March and continues until August. However, to accommodate expatriate families, registration remain open throughout the year.
We accept children of all nationalities, starting from playschool (age 2+) up to Grade 12
Placement into a specific class is determined by the child’s year of birth, following the guidelines set by the French Ministry. Please refer to the age placement and class equivalence table below.
Unless otherwise specified, no entrance tests are required. Previous mark sheets will be evaluated.
Anglophone children are accepted up to Grade 9 without the need for French proficiency. However, beyond Grade 9, children must be proficient in French as they are required to take national-level exams, therefore as a policy we don’t accept non french speaking students grade 10 onwards. We would like to emphasize that French is the primary language of instruction across all grades. Our school has dedicated French as a foreign language teachers at all levels. Anglophone children will receive support throughout their schooling, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills in French to seamlessly follow instructions in class. It typically takes a minimum of two years to build proficiency in any language.
You will be notified by the school when your child’s file has been accepted by the admission committee. An admission invoice will be sent by the accounts department. Admission is confirmed upon receipt of the admission fees. Please note that this amount is non-refundable. The admission fee is a one-time charge; if you withdraw your child and readmit them a few years later, this fee will not be applied again.
